SURF DOG LEGENDS

Surf Gidget the Pug.

Gidget is a rescue pup with a big personality and a signature look: a custom pink wetsuit and a matching pink surfboard. It’s why the surf world calls her the “pug in pink,” and it’s also why she’s busy proving that pugs are not the non-athletic, water-sinking dogs everyone assumes they are. At age two, Gidget learned to ride waves forward, backward, and all the way to shore. She placed on the podium in her very first official competition, then went on to build a dominant career in the small dog divisions across major dog-surfing circuits. In 2018, she was named the overall winner of the World Dog Surfing Championships.
surfer today In 2016, Gidget’s career was nearly cut short when she became severely ill. She was diagnosed with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. She made a full recovery and was back in the ocean catching waves later that same year. Gidget now uses her global surfing fame to give back. She helps protect the oceans through pollution awareness campaigns and brings emotional comfort to children in need. Through the Surf Gidget the Pug Healing Hearts Foundation, she helps find new homes for abandoned pets and connects them with children who have been through hardship. Read
Gidget’s story in the book, The Sea Adventures of Surf Gidget the Pug. The book is about protecting the ocean and its wildlife, and it follows Gidget as she cleans up a trash-covered beach with help from her seagull friends.

“Gidget is my soul dog. She’s the kid I never had. Gidget’s surfing legacy was the inspiration to write The Sea Adventures of Surf Gidget the Pug, to save our oceans, keep our beaches clean, protect our sea and wildlife and put the trash where it’s supposed to be, in a trash can!”
